This year is the first time since 1984 that the same two teams face each other in the Stanley Cup finals in back-to-back seasons. May 24, 1980 – Bob Nystrom scores at 7:11 of overtime against the Philadelphia Flyers as the Islanders win their first Stanley Cup. It was a moment of affirmation for many fans, me included.
